Painter and decorator how much day
Some painters estimate a room by square footage
of the floor.
Others simply multiply by 3
the value of paint and materials to
arrive at a price.
Then their is
painters who have not a clue who charge,
Time and material.
Knowing how long it takes
your workforce to paint, ceilings walls, woodwork etc.
and then multiplying be the companies day
rate is a simple method.
An example would
be: 2 hour to paint a window,
2 coats = 2 hours x £15 Total £30.
Don't give an estimate if the client
refuses to make an appointment to see you,
to run through the details of your
finished proposal. You may have spent 3 hours
working on the estimate then the client
says I'm busy or going out of
town, email of fax it would you.
Insist on a appointment when you first call.
Painter and decorator how much day
Before a painter even quotes for work he
must decide his own hourly rate.
All
his estimates should be based on this.
To calculate your hourly rate you add up
all the expenses that are involved besides
your labor. These are: Transport, tools, brushes,
steps and ladders, materials, protective clothing,
advertising, phone bills and office or storage.
These are all costs to you, and
a proportion must be added to your
actual labor charge.
Its most important that a job estimates is
correct and nothing is left overlooked or missing from
the paperwork. this protects both the client and
the contractor and does not end in a
dispute once the work is in progress. A poorly
rushed estimate with items of work overlooked that
the client wants decorating could mean the contractor
is losing a lot of money before he
picks up his tools.
